I really like this album. (I'm keeping my album, not willing to swap it.) Not sure why it only gets 2 stars, I'd rank it as 4+ stars. Pierre, the lead harmonica, is inspired by Little Walter. I especially enjoy the upbeat title track "Handyman" and "Payday" tracks. "Dog in my Backyard" is also very good. If you are a Blues Harp fan then this album is worth getting in my opinion.

Created and fronted by master harmonica player Pierre LaCocque, the band is one of the tightest on the Blues scene and never fails to thrill audiences when they perform.On this, their fourth album, Mississippi Heat really shows us what they've got. The song writing is solid, the arrangements are written to maximize both the songs and the players. The singing is fabulous. As always, Pierre's harmonica playing really stands out as some of the best you will hear in Chicago Blues.This is a definite must-have album if you're a Chicago Blues fan."

".... has got to be Mississippi Heat. Everybody I play this CD for wants first to know who it is, then wants to try to talk me out of my copy! There's one song that's just Pierre Lacocque's incredible harp and Barrelhouse Chuck's enthusiastic piano. I just keep playing that one over and over, just amazed at the novelty of two instruments being so well in tune with each other or two musicians as tuned-in to each other. Guest appearances by Billy Boy Arnold and Carl Weathersby don't hurt none, neither. Nice originals. I sure wish these guys would show up at a bar here in Nashville. They'd kick some butt!"
