"I love The Mo-Dettes, and if you love the sound of the post-punk era, you'll love them too! This album is chock-full of catchy tunes!!!"

"I bought this album as an import when it was first released in the '80s. Rodney on the ROQ was playing the Mo-dettes and they sounded great. I saw them when they played Southern California then (was it Perkin's Palace in Pasadena? I think so) and loved them. So, I have looked for the CD for some time and was glad to finally find it available. I ordered it last year and several months later it showed up. Though the band didn't like the production of The Story So Far, it is all I know of the Mo-dettes and it remains a favorite disc of mine.
It's true that the music takes me back--but it's more than nostalgia. The Story So Far reminds me what music was like when "Indy" was more than just a label and "Alternative" was not a genre--as it simply is not. The ladies aren't coached and haven't been coddled--and best, they don't sound like they're selling anything.
"Dark Park Creeping," "The Kray Twins," "Bedtime Stories"--these are great songs, and though some of the other songs have a more pop feel--and Ramona's voice, not to mention her big eyes, made me swoon--The Mo-dettes are definitely more Slits than Go-Go's. I used to think they could be an all-female Stranglers--don't know about that now. But listen to them beside the Specials, the Selector, or the Jam.
The Story So Far is more than '80's music, and the Mo-dettes were more than just another all-girl band, and if Ramona is out there anywhere... well, I'm listening more critically now, but I'm still swooning."
