One of the True Thrash/Hardcore Classics

(5 out of 5 stars)
""USA for MOD" was one of the early classics in the thrash/hardcore genre of metal. Billy Milano is one of the most enigmatic and hysterical metal performers of all time, and he's at his best on this album. The songlist is a great blend of serious, hateful songs mixed with hysterical, ball-busting humor, East Coast style. Overall, the lyrical content is more lighthearded than your standard metal album, but the sound is that classic, late-80s crunch throughout. It's still pretty heavy, even by today's standards. It will make you want to "pit it up" like your 15 again. Plus, there's a guest appearance from Scott Ian of Anthrax, who Milano worked with along with Dan Lilker (Nuclear Assault/Brutal Truth) and Charlie Benante (Anthrax) in the band SOD. "Gross Misconduct" gets a little away from the straight thrash/hardcore drive of "USA for MOD", but is still a classic in its own right. You can see Billy Milano start dabbling in a little more "rappy" style on a couple of the songs, and the album is a little more groove, a little less punk than their earlier efforts. But it still has its classic moments. I would pay the list price just for "USA for MOD" (which is hard to find), but the fact that you get "Gross Miscoduct" is a nice bonus."
