"Moev is another one of those awesome underrated bands that woulda, shoulda, coulda made it - but of course - didn't. Bummer. Nevertheless, in Yeah Whatever, they left a superlative album behind them. With only 8 songs, it's a short album and clocks in at just under forty minutes in length. Fortunately, every song is worth listening to - there's no filler here. At this point Yeah Whatever has got to be close to 20 years old, and to an extent it does sound dated. The strong basslines, programmed drums, and sinister lyrical themes are very much 80s New Wave (Depeche Mode and New Order spring to mind immediately, but for some reason I also think of Cabaret Voltaire), but Moev's take on it is definitely catchy and engaging. Thematically speaking, Yeah Whatever is all about sin, redemption, and salvation. If you listen closely to the lyrics, you'll notice this is an album with a lot on its mind, so to speak.



Moev also put out two other albums and a compilation, then in 2000 issued the 5 song Suffer E.P., featuring a female vocalist. This is still their best work, though. It's hard to come by, but if you love that 80s electronic sound and happen to run across a copy, do yourself a favor and buy it - you'll be glad you did.

"I first listened to and recorded this whole album on late night public radio when I was 17 in 1988. I also had the pleasure of seeing them live in Detroit at St. Andrew's Hall that same year. I eventually forgot about them and rediscovered a 12 inch at a record store by accident a couple years ago in New Orleans. Since then, I was obsessed with finding this album again. Thanks to a thoughtful boyfriend who found it and recorded it onto a cassette for me I am reunited with this timeless and amazing music. I cannot believe how great this sounds after all of these years even in 2005! It is beautiful, moody, melodic, dark and electronic with great big beats carrying it along. If you were (or are still) into any of the bands like Skinny Puppy, Front 242, NIN, electronic music, etc. then you MUST own this!!! Though they did achieve pretty decent underground success, Moev was one of those bands that I felt was underexposed, underrated and underplayed. I'll be making up for lost time!!!"
