"I first heard of MVM only a couple of years ago and i picked suffersystem...a decent album but nothing spectacular, but when i saw that they had a new album i decided to give 'em another chance...well, needless to say, i am VERY impressed by this disc 'specially dragon style and color my soul grey and i agree 100% w/ the reviewer below me; instead doing the whole rap-metal fad thing they went and made an excellent metal album w/ heavy blues/southern influences-kinda sounds like Down's Nola but faster and better!!"

"The only thing I can imagine the above two reviewers missing from the new MVM is the psuedo-techno feel. The programmer left the band, and took the sound effects with him. Make no mistake, Suffersystem is one of my alltime favorite albums as well. But it is simply a product of ignorance and a narrow view to call Direct Reaction Now an alternative anything, except perhaps an alternative to the alternative. To put it mildly, this cd is a fierce response to all the posing metal-hop bands whose primary audience is teenage girls. This is a juggernuat, a full throttle assault of the sickest, heaviest GROOVES that I have heard in a long time. All the things that made this band distinctive are still there, pared down to its raw essentials. The punk edge is more pronounced-its a faster cd overall-and Sewall's writing has improved. There are less effects on his voice, and the drums are more prominent in the mix. The guitar harmonies are some of the best I've heard from them. Unlike so many band-wagons, MVM have been true to their influences, and it's easy to hear. There are hints of COC; driving hardcore laced with rock n' roll. Just listen to Dragon style, or I have seen the rise, which has two of the best measures of music I've ever heard, followed by one of the smoothest, heaviest changes. MVM has not only held on to their integrity and spirit through some hard times, they have whittled off the excess and srengthened these things. They have gone the less traveled path, as virtually no metalers have these days, and this cd is in your face, makes no excuses, involves no hip-hop, and I laugh every time I listen to it, the GROOVE is so good, so driving. Understand, people. This is deep, deep in the pocket. Any other technohiptripangstdrivel pales."
