"This is a wonderful tribute album put out by an excellent modern band. Mora's Modern Rhythmists is renowned for its fidelity to the playing styles of the 20's and 30's as well as usage of original jazz charts.
Lyle "Spud" Murphy, who died only this past month (August '05) was a genius in his field. This CD showcases pieces from 1928 - 1937. Mr. Murphy's arranging style was sought out by such band leaders as Benny Goodman, Fletcher Henderson, Paul Whiteman, Bob Crosby and Isham Jones, and with good reason.
He knew how to trim and contain a tune so as to maximize its danceability and charm. (Just try to listen to this and walk away without humming. Can't be done.)
This album will please jazzheads, lindy hoppers, and retro afficianados alike."
It does swing - and move!

"Great music - a really nice alternative to contemporary pop. It's not part of the swing fad of a few years ago, but honest music that younger people are unfortunately not exposed to. Keep it up!"
