"The Muggers Tapes" are crap

"I really bought this to hear Disc 2, since I already own all the songs on Disc 1 on the original albums. Disc 2 is a live recording featuring some people who I've never heard of, but the band called "The Muggers" for this concert have Eddie Clarke and Phil Taylor playing with them.
I shouldn't have bothered. It's a *very* loose, almost informal "gig", and the lead singer is some Cockney git who slurs his words so much that it sounds as if he's drunk. And it doesn't sound anything like Motorhead, so if you're expecting something like Motorhead Mk II you'll be disappointed. It's guitar based late 70s bluesy post punk British New Wave in style, but that seems irrelevant when the actual music is so half hearted and sloppy. They even mangle Eddie Cochrans Summertime Blues.
Still, Disc 1 is a solid enough overview, but with so many Motorhead compilations out there, you have to wonder at the point of this 2 CD set.
Still, I like the cover!"
