"How come i didn't find this album 'til now? Supposedly released in 2002? Really?
And all of these cuts are culled from other albums already available. Really?
Damned if they sound that familiar to me...but then again, i haven't been playing too much Hoople of late....just started again recently following the catalyst of their 40th reunion concert.
ANYWAY - some-one who actually cared selected these numbers, magically remastered them and put them in an order that sounds like one complete concert. Fantastic job!
The sound quality varies between acceptable and a bit patchy, agreed but the sheer energy and excitement contained in this unusual compilation makes up for it completely! Forget every other Mott live CD, - THIS IS THE ONE!!
(Finally!) - Even better than the recent Hammersmith dual set, 'cos Ian's vocals still sound solid and everyone is 'switched on' musically, and Buffin is drumming like a dude possessed on every song! ....it's much better than 'All the live dudes' the alternate 'AngelAir' release. My only critique is the absence of two favorites, - no 'Darkness, Darkness' and no 'Rock & Roll Queen' - which is a bit odd given how popular those numbers were in the MTH concert set, but i guess the raw recordings just weren't there?
Bottom Line: If you want to listen to this unique band at their most very live and rather ornery best, don't walk, run and buy this album either in CD or mp3 format.......you won't be sorry!
