"Geza Anda (1921-1976, barely lived 54 years),was one of the great Hungarian pianists of the last century, and the most beloved Hungarian pianist of Salzburg Festival. This elitist group included Louis Kentner, Gyorgy Sandor, Edith Farnadi, Annie Fisher, Irén Marik, Andor Foldes, Zoltan Kocsis and Andras Schiff .



So, when Furtwangler labeled Anda as the troubadour of the piano, he could not have defined him better, because Anda was a gifted and hyper talented pianist. His scope was very focused: Mozart, Liszt, Bartok and Schumann were perhaps among the most remarkable composers that made of him the sublime pianist he was.



This recital finds him in top form and talks buy itself about his unequalled lyricism, peerless technique and radiant tonality, taking into account these Mozart piano Concertos are not performed regularly. The Bartok No. 2 is fiercy and intense, although I rather stay with the other version with Fricsay.
