No more than it should be......

"I love this recording of the church sonatas. I appreciate the recorded volume of the strings (bright and loud!), the perky tempos, and simple interpretations of these pieces. From my understanding, Mozart didn't write these sonatas to be studied or scrutinized; they aren't meant to evoke "mystery" (as another reviewer suggests) or a melancholy mood. In fact, there is only one slow one. As for the organ, these pieces are not organ sonatas; if one wants to hear extensive organ, turn to Handel. Each sonata is a singular idea that Mozart wrote to be inserted into the Mass, and he took care to make them brief so the Mass would not be too long. Perhaps there are better interpretations out there, but I don't think Mozart meant them to be any more than they are - instrumental fillers in a much longer program. I have listened to this recording over and over. As an orchestral musician myself, I think this recording is great, typical Mozart fun that fills my house with that feeling only Mozart's music can give."
