Wilhelm Kempff visited us three times; in 1955, in 1965 and 1968. In both occasions he played with the O.S.V. (Venezuelan Symphonic Orchestra) and the result was absolutely amazing. I knew the news around both performances and the comments were expressed in superlative terms.



I heard (in the format of the old reel, do you remember?) these three versions and all of them are excellent. The phrasing and sheer musicality of this legendary interpreter plus the talented baton of Pedro Ryos Reyna, the most remarkable conductor of this country made possible an unforgettable soiree.



For all those hard collectors of this pyramidal pianist as well as all those serous music lovers, this is an item whose importance is carved in relief due precisely the fact to have been printed on CD format.



By the way, the great Hall in which was recorded was the legendary Aula Magna of the Central University of Venezuela, with a fabulous acoustic and decorated by Calder sculptures.
