ONE OF THE BEST COLLECTIONS!!!

"This collection of the two major wind serenades (in Eb and in Bb - the 'Gran Partita') is very polished, cultured and has that special stamp of commitment and authenticity from an outstanding group of dutch players at the peak of their careers. Despite the competition from other sets by fine British and American groups, this recording leaves nothing to be desired. Being a conducted performance (often not the case in these serenades) there is a special unanimity and refinement, however there is much spontaneity also, brought about by the dutch player's cheeky accents and general good-humour in the faster movements, while tempi are excellently judged in the slower ones (the famous adagio in the 'Gran Partita' in particular). As a bonus, this 'Universal Classics Australasia' release (under the Philips label) includes the seldom-heard Adagio in Bb, KV410, not part of an earlier incarnation of the serenades on Philips 'Silver Line Classics' series. Buy this if you love Mozart's wind serenades!"
