"The outstanding East German pianist Annerose Schmidt recorded all the Mozart Piano Concertos with Kurt Masur in the early seventies. She even did some earlier versions of various concertos on 10-inch lps with other conductors. The seventies lps were, to my mind, very classy affairs each with a different Old Master drawing, e.g.
gorgeous drawings by Guardi, etc. The cover of this CD has, instead, a rather suggestive photo of a very pretty lady. It may be Annerose Schmidt herself since she was quite lovely looking, but it's hard to believe she would pose for a record cover like that. The best part is it doesn't say which piano concertos these are. But it doesn't matter because every one in the whole set was very strong and beautiful. This is Mozart playing with no mincing around, no pulling back, but still with something perhaps a bit feminine about them in a phrasing flexibility. What wonderful playing."
