Amazon.comThese recordings were made under difficult conditions in postwar Vienna. Unfortunately, Lili Kraus's stereo series of Mozart's piano concertos was done with an incompetent conductor, and has fortunately not been reissued on CD. For those who treasure the special insight of this great Mozart player, the slightly dim sound and occasionally shaky playing from the fine but starving orchestra are worth putting up with for the sake of the communicative piano playing. The recordings have been carefully remastered, and the bargain price makes the set almost irresistible for Mozart lovers. Note that Kraus's excellent stereo set of the Mozart piano sonatas is another great bargain on Sony Classical SM4K 47222. --Leslie Gerber
