Solo Mozart
A Minstrel in the Gallery | Portsmouth, New Hampshire USA | 01/10/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Like all of his music, Mozart's piano sonatas display the full range of human emotion, from joy and mirth to anger and grief. On July 3, 1778, Anna Maria Mozart, the composer's beloved mother died at the age of 57 in

Paris as her son unsuccessfully labored to win a post as Kappelmeister at the French court. Leopold Mozart openly blamed his son for her death, and it was a loss that profoundly impacted the 22 year old Mozart, which can be heard in the tempestuous sonata in A minor (k. 310), composed that during that tragic summer. The sonata in C major, which ends this recording, emerged a decade later in 1788, after Mozart had established himself as the greatest composer and pianist of the 18th century. This disc offers some very thoughtful interpretations of these Mozart pieces by Jeno Jando, who has also produced some of the best versions of Mozart's piano concertos available today."
Timeless Works, Great Performance, Great Value
Socrates Stewart | Owings Mills, MD | 01/03/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Pianist, Jeno Jando, recording for the Naxos label, offers spirited performances of his recorded work of Mozart's and Haydn's piano sonatas. The recording quality is clear and natural. The interpretation is honest and spirited. Naxos recordings are less expensive than most mid-line recordings by the well-established labels. They capitalize on finding top notch soloists and ensembles from Eastern Europe who are beginning to develop a world audience after the fall of the Iron Curtain.

Select the volumes which have your favorite Mozart sonatas, sitback, and enjoy! You won't be disappointed."
