Amazon.comBrunner takes a daring approach to Mozart in this live recital, playing with great freedom and apparently improvising his embellishments in repeated sections. This leads to a couple of mild mishaps, but for the most part he gives illuminating performances of Mozart's music. Some of these pieces are not well known, but there is no minor Mozart here. Because of the repertoire and the pianist's approach, this disc is probably for the advanced Mozartean rather than the novice. I don't find the recital uniformly successful, but it is consistently stimulating, and adds up to a more memorable experience than some better-played but less adventurous Mozart recitals. --Leslie Gerber
