"An amazing cd. Featuring Clarence White of the Byrds on lead guitar, Richard Green on fiddle, the legendary David Grisman in his youth on mandolin, and Bluegrass Boys Bill Keith and Peter Rowan on banjo and rhythm guitar & vocals respectively.Richard Green is one of the best fiddlers I've ever heard. He's got his own style and flare the way Vassar Clements and Charlie Daniels do. Amazing fills and very rewarding leads. David Grisman, later to perform with everyone from Doc Watson to Jerry Garcia. Along with Garcia, Clements, Rowan, and bassist John Kahn was later the Bluegrass band Old & In The Way. Grisman is amazing on this album, doing spellbinding leads and cross-picking his way from one side of the album to the other.Clarence White puts together some lead guitar runs that are up there with the greatest ever and Bill Keith's banjo is super strong throughout. Then last, but certainly not least is is Peter Rowan, who performs, along with others his original "Land of the Navajo." His high clear voice alone is reason to get the album. My roommate says all you ever need to do is listen to Muleskinner. Tough day at school? Listen to Muleskinner. Got a touch of the flu? A little Muleskinner will take care of it. Can't find any new and amazing music? Muleskinner is all you will ever want."

"I came across this while browsing YouTube and was so taken decided to buy the whole set rather than download the excerpt posted online. Great music, great set, some real fancy picking, and satisfying bluegrass. Good listening. Really."
So glad this is availble now

"I saw this group on television many years ago & they were
outstanding! This was before VCRs but I did tape the tv
show on audio cassette & have kept it all these years.
If you like bluegrass...or even if you don't think you do...
you will LOVE this album."
