"A poignant, telling story of prostitutes in and around Times Square during the 1980's. Many people argue this show was the most solid of the 1996-1997 season, and I would have to agree. The dance music and songs by "Barnum" creator Cy Coleman really can't be topped. Some of the best contemporary voices (including B'way and Soul "Diva" Lillias White in her Tony-Award winning portrayal) are heard on this CD. A Must-Have for any B'way Fan!!! END"

"It has a lot of great performances that contrast the Broadway version. By far Jennifer Holliday's version of "He's No Good" is incredible--she could have won another Tony for that song.Liza's "We Had A Dream" is one of her best I've ever heard her. And the Jack Jones version of "I'm Leaving You" was quite good too. With this CD one gets why they put "The Life" on Broadway. If you get a copy of this, you will be the ENVY of all your friends who appreciate musical theatre."

"The musical that never was. This cd contains brilliant performances, George Burns appears here for what was his final recording session. Jennifer Holliday's "He's No Good" is so tender and the strings so soft. This album explores the world of prostitution and compels us to feel sympathy for them. After listening to this cd, you will."
