CD ReviewsI love this CD! K. Draper | oklahoma | 10/10/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "I bought this CD for my niece, and a copy for me as well, after a friend told me about the Music Together program. My friend was really excited about Music Together which she had attended with her grandson. It's a once-a-week class that meets for 10 weeks per semester for very young children (pre-school) and their parents (or other caretakers). There's a series of three programs a year for three years. Thus you get new songs on every semester for three years for a total of nine song books. Music Together has an excellent website where you can get info about the program and check to see if there is a Center near you. This CD is a compilation of a few favorites from the three year program, and it is first-rate quality stuff. I have been enjoying listening to MT "Family Favorites" very much: in my car, while I clean house, or any time I need a pick-me-up. I had played many, many music tapes of all sorts for my sons as they were growing up, and we had a lot of fun with that, but I think that this one trumps them all. The CD starts and ends with the standards which also start and end each class: "Hello Song" and "Goodbye So Long, Farewell." In "Hello", each child and adult is named and greeted as a prelude to starting the music class (or in this case, the CD). "Goodbye" ends on a happy note which helps the child look forward to the next music class. In between are 17 songs and chants of amazing variety and quality. There is a good balance and mix of pieces that maximize the fun and joy of music while the children naturally and easily learn important aspects of music itself. The piece called "Spishing and Splashing", for example, is a super-fun rhythm number--not a tune, just a cool chant. The stick song is one where the children get to use rhythm sticks while chanting and singing. In "Palo, Palo" we get to sing a bit of Spanish, and then there's Obwisana from an African culture. Allee Galloo uses fun "scat" (nonsense) words, and a couple of tunes have no words at all, such as "Dancing with Teddy". Well, that should give you a good idea about the MT "Family Favorites" CD. In case you are wondering: no, I do not work for Music Together. But I am strongly considering it!" Fun for Adults! Metin54 | NJ-USA | 06/24/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) " The tracks on this CD are very enjoyable. More than good music for chidren to hear, the songs, specifically the arrangements and the instrumentation are excellent and I find myself listening to the CD myself. It's really a very hip CD. I like the track 'She Sells Seashells' - very eerie and beautiful. We have many childrens/family music CDs around the house so I listen to a lot of music that's geared towards 'younger' listeners. This is a very very wonderful CD for listening and for sing along. " Excellent!!! R. Noon | New York, USA | 06/01/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "This CD was all I wanted and more. My two year old and I are having so much fun singing, clapping and dancing to all the songs. Definately a must-have for all parents!!"
