CD Reviews

Holy freakin cow

"This is the single off the new album Avant Que L'Ombre.

Since amazon is not taking reviews for the full album, nor are they shipping it yet to the US, here I am.

First off this single is far from the best track on this album, it's good, but is no indication of the surprise you are in for when you listen to the full album.

It is #1 in sales rank at amazon.fr and has been for weeks. No accident. The album is phenomenal. I've been a fan of her's for more than a decade and just when you think she retired and the best of her is past, she hits with Avant Que L'ombre. Easily the best thing she ever did and totally addicting. One of those CDs that don't leave the player for weeks.

A major disappointment!

"I waited so long for this single to come out. Now that I have it...I must admit it is NOT worth the wait. Instead of being happy, I'm quite disappointed. This is why:

Track 1 is the single mix (I already have a downloaded version of it...and it's almost like the album version). Track 2 is a waste of space on the CD. It's supposed to be a "VOCAL CLUB MIX". Where are the vocals? It's repetitious and I wouldn't want to dance to it in a club. Track 3 is not bad. That's why I rate the CD 2 stars. At least this track sounds more like the original. It starts out with Mylene's "cursing" part...which I like. Track 4 is another sad excuse for a remix. It's the instrumental version of track 2. What a waste of space! I wouldn't be surprised this single gets the lowest rating of all Mylene's releases. What bothers me the most is on track 2 and 4...there's about 1 minute of synthesized "dzup dzup" at the last minute of the song...and i find it meaningless and a stupid way to end a remix.

The artwork is alright...even though I would've preferred a digipack. After all the holdup from being released...I thought it would be at least halfway decent. If you don't want to be disappointed...don't waste your money on this item. If you want remixes with "body", buy Mylene's 2003 release titled "Remixes". At least some of the songs on there seem to sound near the originals. Or...if you really want your money's worth, buy the "AVANT QUE L'OMBRE" CD instead!
