"I got this LP when it first came out in 1983, and now almost 25 years later, it's finally on CD for the first time anywhere! It's almost worth the wait. While this seminal album flopped on the charts, it nonetheless contains several highly influential 80s NYC dance/disco classics like LIFE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL, DANCE SISTER, DON'T MAKE ME WAIT, and more - all featuring lung-busting vocals of underrated vocalist BERNARD FOWLER (sampled countless times on 90s house records) and all produced by the late, great LARRY LEVAN - the LP as a whole has some clinker "experimental" tracks, but it's a perfect time capsule of expertly played and produced dance/funk of the highest order - this Japanese import CD features several BONUS 12"-only mixes, but I just wish they would have included the full 8-min+ epic vocal mix of LIFE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL - you must hear Bernard's vocal scat improv vocals to believe 'em - really something special, indeed."
