Synopsis

Product Description
NACHTMYSTIUM have existed since 2000. Formed by Blake Judd and Pat "Noctis" McCormick, the band started off as a primitive 4-tracker black metal band. Over the years, the band has progressed through many line up changes and the sound has constantly matured, stepping away from the typical black metal thematics and embracing different influences within the sound, while maintaining a raw and harsh edge that's unique to the black metal genre. The incorporation of other influences have helped the band create a sound that is unique to them specifically, and will continue to work as an ever-expanding unit with the ultimate goal to create metal music that pushes boundaries and walks into uncharted territories. The band are currently preparing for the biggest assault of their career as they unveil their massively anticipated new fulllength, Addicts: Black Meddle Pt. II. Recorded once again at Sanford Parker's Volume Studios (Rwake, Minsk, Lair of the Minotaur, Pelican, etc.), the new album showcases NACHTMYSTIUM's most prolific and expansive sounds to date. Prepare to get addicted.

CD Reviews

UN-traditional and genre destroying music.

"This is not your typical black metal album, that's for sure.

Their previous cd, Assassin showed the progession of the band into semi-psychedelic black metal realm and now they became a full brown psychedelic, genre destroying black metal band. If you have a open mind for diverse music, you are going to enjoy this cd.

As an avid fan of psychedelic and various types of rock music in general, I found this album thoroughly enjoyable. This is not the black metal in the vein of Marduk or Dark Funeral but more close to other genre destroying bands such as Negura Bunget, Blut Aus Nord, and etc. If you listen carefully, you will find a whole lot of details and layers from this cd. Some of the keyboard work of this cd are totally new/alien in black metal genre. The song structures are definitely not typical black metal yet they convincingly deliver the sense of anger, despair, and sorrow. Don't get me wrong. I do like Marduk and some of the most brutal black metal bands as well but the band like Nachtmystium are the one who can break the mold and create something beyond ordinary. As much as we need band like Marduk, Watain and etc. etc., we also need band like Nachtmystium. And I believe they achieved the goal of breaking the mold successfully with this album. If you are open minded about music, give it a try. But if you are one of those black metal purists, then this music will not please you."

"Okay, first off, I'm a big black metal fan. Not Death so much. That said, this is an impressive album, it's branching into new directions with barely any tie ins to black metal at all. That's the cool part. Different enough, mature enough, to recommend to open minded friends who are not necessarily metal fans. New fan, great job guys, hard for me to respect much modern American metal, these guys are one of the few exceptions"
