"This is Nancy at her very best. There are songs on this cd that are not included on any of her greatest hits cds. This is a must have for Nancy fans. She is accompanied by Carl Anderson, a great in his own right. You must hear I Was Telling Him About You, the lyrics are the bomb. Nancy with Carl is a dynamic duo. This cd is out of print. So sensous, so Nancy. I was elated to find it on eBay."

"Featuring a stunning cover photo of the then-forty-something Wilson, "Forbidden Lover" is a relaxing entry in the soft jazz/R & B category. Recorded in 1987, the album has the singer being supported by Carl Anderson (on two duets), Jim Gilstrap, saxophonist Branford Marsalis, guitarist Paul Jackson, Jr. and legendary percussionist Paulinho Da Costa.
The songs aren't as good as the previous album, "Keep You Satisfied," or its successor, "Nancy Now," but Wilson, as always rises to the occasion, adding her signature vocal style to songs that can others could only wish they could perform.
The best of the lot are "You Know", "Too Good to be True," "I Never Held Your Heart," "What Will It Take," and Wilson's take on the Elton John classic "A Song for You.""

"I absolutely LOVE Nancy Wilson's Capitol jazz songs from the 60's - and that being said - this cd has gone beyond her Capitol days. It has the most inventive vocal arrangements and instrumental arrangements of her career. She is slinky on some, funky on others, and sexy on the rest. But there is not one song that I can say that I would exclude from enjoying. Some songs are jazzy, some are R&B, some are magical, but basically they are all special. Her vocals are strong and her vocals are inspired. The musicians give 105% compared to cds of the past. Truly one of her best - so if you love Nancy Wilson's vocal phrasing, this one is for you."
