Practically perfect

"This overview of Nancy's Capitol years presents a nearly perfect selection of recordings. Many artists don't have a clue about their own careers but Nancy Wilson has always been highly aware and articulate about her own musical journey. Every recording here is brilliant--there simply are no lapses in taste or quality--and the range of material is remarkable. For years people have told Nancy they liked her "until you changed your style" but the fact is she never changed her style. She did grow in depth, breadth and wisdom as an artist and in the type of music she chose. At long last, this collection proves from first track to last that her style never changed. It was her music landscape that cinescoped! In my opinion, people became frustrated because she could not be classified, she didn't repeat and she was unpredictable. The proof she made wise choices is evident in the current high level of her career and her newest Grammy awards. She hasn't grown older, she's grown better."

"Like reviewer Carolyn Scott, I too have been searching far and wide and for quite a long time for the CD release of my all-time favorite of Nancy Wilson's remarkable catalogue, the baroque "In A Long White Room".
From the moment I heard it I was captivated by this song, with its witty, trippy lyric, delicate psychedelic arrangement and Miss Wilson's playful and seductive vocal; it received serious radio play in Chicago on WMAQ-AM back in 1970-71 when that station featured classic and MOR vocalists.
Not too long after I went searching local record shops for either the single or its lp, which I eventually found ("Nancy: The Charm, The Thrill, The Beauty, The Excitement of the Magnificent Nancy Wilson") and played incessantly. And with the release of other, earlier Wilson CD compilations featuring cuts such as "You'd Better Go" and "If We Only Have Love", I'd been encouraged to believe that it could only be a matter of time before "In A Long White Room" found its way to compact disc--FINALLY my patience has been rewarded!"
A Superb Relection of " Miss Nancy"

"I just received my CD's a 3 CD collection. The is some of Nancys best work. I really enjoy The Capital Recordings most. You will not be disappointed if you appreciate the quality of a Fine Fine Jazz vocalist. Buy this CD you won't regret it."
Good to see you again Nancy!

"The 1960's and 1970's are considered the the prime years of "Soul" and "R & B" music. Consequently almost all black singers were comfortably snuggled into either one of those niches. Nancy Wilson was a singer, period. She had her share of popular hits such as "Now I'm A Woman" and "Guess Who" but she pretty much stayed true to her own muse more of a jazz singer. If you are familiar with Nancy, listening to "The Very Best of Nancy Wilson:The Capital Recordings 1960-1976" is like seeing an old friend for the first time in twenty years. You smile and laugh and hug and want to know what ever happened to this song or that song. If you are new to Nancy and only heard "old heads" talking about her, lay back, relax and absorb. Nancy Wilson is listening and feeling music. In popular parlance it's "grown folks music". This is a grown woman singing about feelings and experiences through a grown woman's prism.
The only thing missing from this cd is a loaf of bread and a jug of wine."
"I've been listening to Ms. Nancy Wilson since I was 12-years old. So, I know most of her songs since I collected the LPs and now the CDs. She is a perfect lady and artist. Her work just improves with age and yet my favorite song is "Guess Who I Saw Today". I love all of her music the old and the new.
