CD Reviews
Great collection of early Nat/King Cole Trio stuff
The Fancy One | Westchester County, NY | 08/15/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)
"This package is very well put together. A lot of it covers the pre-Capitol years to 1945, when the Trio was a household name. Much of the CD features instrumentals, but Nat does have some of his early vocal classics mixed in there as well ("Sweet Lorraine", "If You Can't Smile And Say Yes", "All for You", "Embraceable You", "I'm A Shy Guy", and more). I was sorry to see that "I'm Through With Love" and "Gone With The Draft" were not included, but this is still a real gem to own. This will remind you, or in most cases, let you know that long before Nat became a household name for his vocal skills, he was also a tremendously talented jazz pianist. By all means, pick this one up."
