"For fans of two of my favorite musical figures, Nat King Cole and Gordon Jenkins, you'll surely love this recently released recording of "The Very Thought of You," one of the most remarkable albums from Nat King Cole's discography originally recorded and released in 1958. It contains a repertoire of some of the most-loved ballads lushly orchestrated by Gordon Jenkins, a Grammy award winner, Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, and one of the greatest conductors/arrangers/composers ever lived.
Cole's velvety smooth voice lends radiance to these timelessly beautiful standards and enhanced by the exquisite orchestral arrangements by Jenkins, who was better known for his par excellence orchestrations on some of the most beautiful Sinatra recordings such as Where Are You?, A Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra and a Grammy-winning-album, September of My Years.
Let your unforgettable musical journey begin as Nat King Cole sings some of my all-time favorite standards, which include Harry Warren/Mack Gordon's "The More I See You," Gordon Jenkin's "This Is All I Ask," Sammy Cahn/Jim Van Heusen's "Making Believe You're Here," "Don't Blame Me," the title track, Ray Noble's "The Very Thought of You" and a very charming song written by Marty Symes and Isham Jones, "There Is No Greater Love."
"No sweetest song
Than what you sing to me
There is no greater love
In all the world, it's true
No greater love
Than what I feel for you"
With Nat King Cole and Gordon Jenkins and His Orchestra in the picture, you can't go wrong! This CD simply promises a lovely listening experience.
What more can you ask for?"
"The Very Thought of You" not owning this album - is Unthink

"This is the middle album of the Gordon Jenkins trilogy of Nat "King" Cole collaborations, and is a must own for any (even casual) fan of the "Velvet Throat".
The other two albums, Love Is the Thing/Where Did Everyone Go?, are available through Amazon and I have reviewed them at that location. They are a real bargin, because there are two albums on one compact disc.
"The Very Thought of You" is tender and gentle. A collection of songs about the happiness, and occasional sadness, associated with loving that one special person who is meant only for you.
You simply must own this spectacular album and it's two companion volumes.
My recommendation, buy this and Love Is the Thing/Where Did Everyone Go? and Top Pops, not a part of the trilogy but an essential for listening to the greatest singer of love and loss of the 20th Century!
Own these four and you're set for many hours of great singing by the best that ever was!"
Excellent!

"In 1958, in 2008, in 2058... this is beautiful music, and always will be. String-heavy orchestral arrangements of classic love songs sung as only Nat Cole can. If you like this album, also get Nat's "Love is the Thing" and the somewhat less-known masterpiece "The Touch of Your Lips" (now on a two-fer with "Tell Me All About Yourself.") Enjoy."
