CD ReviewsGreat retrospective, new versions G. Gallagher | San Francisco, CA | 02/04/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Ned's Atomic Dustbin was one of the great bands out of the UK late 80's/ early 90's who unfortunately didn't break through the US aside from college-indie radio. This CD collection is much more than just a greatest hits collection -- the songs have been re-recorded but maintain the integrity of the originals.
The 24 tracks were re-recorded in 2001, and the last 4 tracks on CD2 are from a live performance in 2002. There's a DVD of an interview with John, Alex and Dan, the three original members. These recordings are crisp and pack a punch, and I feel improved over the originals. Vocals aren't treated as the original had it, wall of guitars/bass/drums are very tight so it sounds like the band is playing in your living room. I highly recommend this collection for anyone who was into Ned's but already feel they have heard the songs a thousand times. This is a breath of fresh air. Currently, this is my favorite CD to run to/ do cardio at the gym -- it truly is energizing stuff. The DVD is an interview with the band... these guys are so unpretentious and down to earth -- you'll like them even more. Do yourself a favor and pick up this collection now. " |
