CD ReviewsAbout time! Michael L. Pasqua | Southern Cal | 05/17/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is one of those overlooked gems that fans have been screaming about for years. The "missing piece" in the Asylum puzzle is finally available, thanks to Collectors Choice. Although Doheny is often linked to Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther and the Eagles, he has a unique style that crosses from folk to jazz to country-rock. Even though "On And On" was orginally recorded by Dave Mason and Cass Elliot, Doheny provides a personal stamp thanks, in part, to the harmony vocals of Graham Nash. I have been waiting for this for a long time and it's like seeing an old friend. If you have any doubts, Ned Doheny says it all with the song "Trust Me". An amazing singer, songwriter and guitarist." Long overdue release! Get it while you can! Dale Rohrbach | Michigan | 06/03/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "This album has a cool Westcoast vibe, with melodic guitar lines and a laid-back attitude. Being a big Ned Doheny fan, I already had an older japanese import CD of this album, but I like this one so much that it was easily worth purchasing this, too, in case anything ever happens to the import!
Think Eagles with more straightforward songwriting, or Jackson Browne minus the pomp and minus the morose overtones. This is like hanging out at the beach in Malibu on a lazy afternoon! Excellent!!" |
