CD Reviews

Negativland sings!
George T. Parsons | Nevada City, CA | 07/28/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"By far the most song-oriented release in Negativland's long a varied career. Very catchy too! There are many oddball hit songs from a better more chipper parallel dimension. Very groovy with a high quality of material throughout, and still utizing scads of well chosen samples and snips of found sounds as well. Plundering pop culture the reflect back an insightful funhouse-mirror caricature. Instantly one of Negativland's most essential and accomplished recordings."
Very song-oriented Negativland work
Michael A. Duvernois | Minneapolis, MN United States | 03/09/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"It's most similar to Escape From Noise if we're looking at the back catalog. The found sounds and sample pieces are present, but there's a lot more singing, much more of a traditional song-oriented album here. The sound quality is first rate. The songs themselves reflect a bubbly saccharine-drenched parody of popular culture. While less "experimental" in sound, the essential core of Negativland is still here, sampling and parodying the dominant culture. Listen to the samples to see if the actual music strikes you as interesting in addition to the ideas being interesting."
