CD ReviewsOld Black Balberith | FL | 02/12/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Damn good album. A friend of mine let me borrow this, and I must say that I was quite skeptical since I had never heard of them before. Well I opened it up and noticed that "no easy listening" is printed on the inside so I thought that was pretty unique. This album is for you if you like blast beats. If not...then you might have a hard time with it. The guitars are melodic, distorted like hell, but still melodic. You just have to listen for chord progression. What I like most about this band is that once in every song they throw a riff or two in there that is quite different from the rest of the song, but it just grabs your attention. Vocals sound kinda like Dani from Cradle of Filth but without the annoying high pitch dog whistle screams...more of a happy medium. Drums keep the beat, and thats about it, no real shining moments on the album. Don't look for any guitar solos because you won't find them, but why would you look for guitar solos on a black metal album anyway? Instantly, Pure Holocaust by Immortal came into my head when I started listening to this. That or Battles in the North. But the drums are more precise than Abbath's beating. Overall A+ effort on Negator's part"
