Recorded on a chilly December evening before a warm audience of fans and friends at Bennett Studios in Englewood, NJ, Never Been to Vegas is a collection of 14 carefully-chosen songs that span more than a century of great American songwriting. In uncluttered arrangements for three voices, songs by timeless greats like Hank Williams and Billy Edd Wheeler, new traditionalists like Gillian Welch, Patty Griffin, and RED MOLLYs own Abbie Gardner mix easily with traditional American folk and gospel.

CD Reviews

Truly Wonderful Roots/Americana Music
Richard Fallstich | USA | 08/10/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Red Molly is three women from the greater New York City area, but they sound like they could have been raised in a Virginia coal mining town. They use acoustic guitars, banjo, and a dobro to bring to life the most amazing music. Some songs are the traditional, religious type; some are more secular. Either way, Red Molly is spellbinding.

Their harmonies are every bit as good as Emmylou, Dolly, and Linda on the Trio recordings - the yardstick as far as I am concerned. "Never Been to Vegas" was recorded in a studio with a live audience. This was a great idea too. They have a great stage presence and typically establish a rapport with an audience. I have been lucky enough to have been to 3 of Red Molly's concerts (so far - looking forward to more) and they are always engaging and quick with a quip or song to fit the occasion.

Red Molly is one of my favorite artists since discovering them. The CD is excellent, and I'm looking forward to new recordings from them, as well as more live shows.
