Synopsis

Album Description
New Years Day has been making quite a lot of noise and touching the hearts of many with their ultra-catchy, anthemic songs that just happen to be loaded with daggers for lyrics. Making them unique in the boy dominated punk scene is the bold presence of 22-year old singer Ash Costello, who provides distinct and empowering vocals to a rock band that can really back it up. The result is "My Dear", the debut album that Alternative Press calls "Punk with a nice Vampira bite," and which prompted AbsolutePunk.com to declare them "A real contender for `Next Big Thing.'" New Years Day will roll out their sharp-spiked pop punk nationwide on this summer's Vans Warped Tour starting on June 28, following dates in April and May opening for Ozma and William Tell. The first single off "My Dear" is the infections pop punk anthem "I Was Right." Its edgy companion video is directed by VMA winner Shane Drake (Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes) and will help NYD make the leap from MySpace phenomenon to rock stars.

"I went to see the band madina lake at a concert just a month ago and look who played with them....New years day!

I remember watching her and the band play with so much heart and loving the sounds of the songs!

I heard of the band but Ive never seen them live before!

so after that I bought their CD off amazon and loved it so much. I was right, my dear, and my sweet unvalentine are my favorite songs by them!

while their songs are kinda on the same subject (breaking up yaddy yadda)

It kicks all it back with a hell of a catchy tune to their songs.

Overall I say buy new years eve and see them at the warp tour. You wont be sorry!"
One of the best albums I've ever heard

""my dear" hasn't left my cd player since the day I got it. It's different from all the powerpop/punk/rock bands out there. You cant even start to compare them with any other band! They have made there own sound. The lyrics are catchy, some of the lines keep on going in my mind over and over again but they defiantly don't bore me! every time I listen to the album I hear something new. If it isn't Ash's great voice, it's the backing vocals, the guitars, the drums, a line that makes me laugh or gives me chills ... , ... It's a great album and a very talented band."
