"Ella Fitzgerald had class right up tp the end, and this being one of her later sessions, proves that she did. Her voice has more feeling then it did on her previous two Gershwin sets(Ella Sings Gershwin on Decca and The Gershwin Songbook on Verve) Ella always was brilliant when accompanied by just a piano or just a guitar(as the Joe Pass duet albums on Pablo prove) and here she duets with Andre Previn, as they uplift these timeless Gershwin standards... Recommended to all jazz buffs, as well as lovers of the great American songbook. This is a real gem."

"I would give anything to have been present at this session, it must have been amazing to see and hear Ella sing with just a piano, a very intimate and wonderful set. Essental jazz! Also worth picking up is Doris Day and Andre Previn "Duet" it's surprisingly a very jazzy set also."
