"Nick Riff's third full-length release (after "Heart of Oblivion" & "Freak Element") and countless singles and compiliations show Nick hitting the marks he laid down with "Freak Element." Mixing elements of Space/Prog with Punk and just plain ol' Rock, Nick reaches both back and forward on this release.



While "Creature Feature" and "Way Out" are the more rockin' numbers, if you want to trance out there is "Temple of Dreams" and "From Beyond They Speak." This is a well concieved CD and the track prgrossion makes a lot of sense.



I wouldn't say that Nick has nothing to prove, I would say he's just making music that is true to him. If you are tired of the radio-retreads, give this a listen.

"Best described as 'space pop', this title overall is a good choice. I've heard that the artist's other CD 'Nick Riff's Freak Element' is at least as good,if not better. What drew me to 'Cloak Of...' is the tune "Tribal Elders" that is on the 3-CD release 'Space Box, 1970 And Beyond-Space, Krautrock & Acid Trips' which is thought to be sacred, by some. The most notable tracks here would be the title cut / opener, "Way Out", the cool sounding "Like A Zen Stray", "Ghost" and "From Beyond The Speak". Also wanted to mention the playing through out the entire CD appears to be well thought out as well as tranquil. Perhaps a tad to commercial for some, but still worth checking out if you're tired of all those countless bands out there that are making the scene like they've got something to prove. Nick Riff has NOTHING to prove and 'Cloak Of...' is evidence of that."
