"if you own " the progressive al cohn " and like the quintet numbers with nick travis on that cd , then this one is definitely worth picking up . it feels a little bit more like a relaxed blowing date than the earlier session but is pretty good . mostly original tunes make up the program , the only over-played standard to make an appearance being " you don't know what love is " . good playing from all parties here , john williams on piano plays in a very hampton hawes-ish vein and cohn is in his usual fine form . a real pleasant surprise , this one ."
