Awesome nicky ginger baker laswell rock blusy african fusion

"Nicky Skopelitis: guitars; Ginger Baker: drums: Bill Laswell: basses; Simon Shaheen: violin, oud; Fred Frith: violin; Aiyb Dieng: percussion

The first song starts out with a tweeked intro of a monkeys blusey-ish guitar then mold to a rock fusion of nickys blusy guitar gingers fusion drums, laswells funky bass heavelly effected and aiyb's percussion driffting in and out verry muted, nicky cuts in and out with an electric distorted sound.

2 is verry breezy with the typical fusion nicky guitar sound african inspired drums simon playing a verry subdued violin solo, has more of the middle passage feel but with out the effects.

3 is extremelly different verry blusyish and southern inspired with an african twist still really cool with simons violin

4 also has a verry folk sound with banjo and twang and querky beat still cooler than anything of the sort ive ever heard

5 also starts out with some effects and mello trpical nicky style and ambient laswell bass, then melds to a slow fusion rock beat. the oud played by simon is also absolutelly amazing really adds a morrocan or algerian feel. the end has some distortion nicky guitar simular to some buckethead but well before his time.

6 has some light effects and laswell rythm additions, the guitar is slide and verry twangy whill the beat is like more hip hopin dub up beat style and laswell acompanies it with a more dub style bass on this one. their is also some light distorted guitar.

7 is amazing awesome violin verry african with aiyb and baker playing percussion only, aiybs is verry structured will baker goes all around the beat it seams its amazing, will simon plays another amzaing oud solo you gotta hear this one.

all in all this album is worth the hunt for it it will take to track down a reasonably priced one. it has more of a really blusey ish sound that i figgured it would be not like the hear no evil album this is more strict not with as much fusion involved, an a lots less of the dub influenced effect going on ass hear no evil and middle passage but more than horses and trees. horses and trees by ginger baker featured the same cast except(1,2,4): l. shankar was on that album on his signiture made double violin Foday Musa Suso (1,3,4,6): dousongonni, kalimba, nyanyer, kora Bernie Worrell (1,2,4): organ Daniel Ponce (1,2,4): bata, bells; Nano Vasconcelos (3,6): berimbau, cuica, voice, shaker; D.ST. (3): turntable; Robert Musso (6): organ that came out in 1986, this has a little more of nicky and a lot better laswell bass and a bit more violin / eastern influence but. hear no evil by bill laswell, Bill Laswell: bass; Shankar: violin; Nicky Skopelitis: guitars; Ginger Baker: Drums; Zakir Hussain: tabla; Aiyb Dieng: percussion; Daniel Ponce: percussion came out in 1988 and is refered to almorst all the time when explaining the sound of but i wouldnt fully agree with that. This album is more filled with eastern elements nickys coral sitar is featured zakir's tablas and has a lots more dub in it like assasin. but it does have the rock fusion mixed with blusy elements. i like hear no evil better though, its more spacious and filled with different sound elements and more instruments in each song. but thats me

middle passage by ginger baker, Ginger Baker: drums; Jah Wobble: bass; Jonas Hellborg: Wal midi bass, fretless and acoustic bass; Bill Laswell: bass, fretless and 6- string bass; Bernie Worrell: Hammond organ; Nicky Skopelitis: 6- & 12- string guitars, baglama, coral sitar, electric banjo, Fairlight; Faruk Tekbilek: ney, zurna; Aiyb Dieng: doff, dumbek, talking drum, metals; Mar Gueye: sabar (hand drum); Magette Fall: tama (talking drums) came out in 1990 and is my favorite of all listed. this featured more of a eastern african rock dub reggae sound. the blusy elements are not as traditional but more fusion rock.

i listed all the other albums to get a better feel on how this album really is because i have searched everywhere to try to hear this album first and came up with no sources. so im not really sure why this is a nicky skopelitis record because it dosent really sound anything like his ekstacis album which is verry dub rock eastern fusion. and ekstcis wake up and dream is verry layed back melly rock eastern fusion, and the revelator album is an eastern fusion of acoustic and electric guitarin with roaul bjorkenheim. but you may have a hard time trackin this one down it is a but rare even though it is on virgin rec ords and nation but they still got rid of it
