"Many years ago I was given the "Here comes the sun" Album as a gift. I was just an adolescent then and it was the first time I had ever heard Nina Simone. I cherished the album and played it almost everyday. Most times alone in my solitude. Kids my age were much more into Pop. But this album open my eyes to the artistry and commanding presence of Nina Simone. She had a way of owning a song and making it hers. Years later I moved to NYC and would follow all her shows around town. Some times she would show up. Some times she wouldn't. If she felt you didn't give her proper respect she would walk off the stage. Some times I would look at her as she performed and she seemed wounded as if she nursed some deep hurt, pain would resonate in her voice. Other times she would light up the stage with wondrous vocal skills, Her fingers would fly across the keyboard. Either way her performances are a truly gifted memory that I will never forget. Many years later to come across this album as a double set. What a treat! And years later it has again become my favorite album."
