"It`s been just over 30 years since this movie enchanted many teenagers (I was one!).Rota`s magnum opus surely. Capitol Records did release a special 3 LP set which has all music and dialogue from the movie. I used to listen to the whole thing (transferred to cassette tape) and fall into a relaxed sleep. The music is so lovely. But only a small complaint - Silva`s transfer is inferior to the original music-only LP on Capitol Records. This version came after the music plus dialogue version which distracts the listener from Rota`s music. The music is authentic in its entirety. Pity - the score was not even nominated for an Oscar."

Inspiring and fulfilling music at its best

"I remember being at the opening of the movie, "Romeo and Juliet", so many years ago when I was a sophomore in college. The music was hauntingly beautiful and was well suited to the beauty of the movie. I recall running out and buying the album as soon as it was released. For the next couple of years I listened to it now and then until the scratches finally overwhelmed the music. To my surprise, I saw that the CD version of it was available. Having purchased it and listened to it, the warmth of the melodies return back to my younger days and rejuvenates me. I urge that everyone take time to listen and enjoy this music that really gives meaning to the terms "life' and "love""

"This music is uplifting,relaxing, and at the same time- heart-wrenchingly full of sadness. Nino Rota did an exquisite job on this recording. I believe this music to be the best soundtrack ever!!!!"
