Synopsis

Album Description
Issued on CD for the first time ever, this the complete studio recordings of this legendary punk outfit, founded and fronted by a pre-Pogues Shane MacGowan and "woman they couldn't hang" Shanne Bradley. The Nips' exhilarating blend of punk, garage and rockabilly is sometimes neglected in the wake of the later achievements of Shane and Shanne. This short, sharp, low-price, 10-track CD should more than put that to rights. Features both sides of each of the group's three original Soho Records singles, and two tracks that were unissued prior to the 1987 vinyl issue of this material.

CD Reviews

What a change!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"I just picked up this record, the only Nips music available to the general public, and I thought maybe the case was wrong and that someone slipped some early Clash into this sleeve. The spitfire delivery of Joe Strummer or Johnny Rotten leaps out over three chords and a bassline straight from the Ramones first record. Shane MacGowan barely sounds like the Shane we would all come to love as the frontman of the Pogues and yet this record is undeniably pure Shane. If you want the Irish stuff, don't look here. If you wanna throw your fist in the air and pogo like it's 1977, spend the ten bucks."
