Synopsis

Product Description
EP release of the first three recordings from the upcoming cd and dvd "Tales of Katrina: A Freight Train Screamin'", also a soon-to-be-released book by Cary Black. My Fate: An early No Regrets love song written by Angi. The original music was composed by No Regrets when Daun Freeborn played with us. Cary thought the song had a lot of passionate energy and added the words in the middle section about the levee breaks and the following surge during Katrina. So it became a love-lost tragedy ballad with the hurricane at its center. Here Before the Storms: As we were composing music to accompany the Tales of Katrina DVD, we received suggestions that we needed a Cajun tune. After listening to several CD s of Cajun music, Cary came up with the initial chord progression. The band had a natural feel for the rhythms as we developed the song and Angi wrote the words on the spot. We composed this song in about 15 minutes. It was a very cool synergy we experienced with this one. The trumpet and sax patches are from Cary's keyboard. While we were in the studio, Ziggy broke out his fiddle and helped add a very Cajun feel during the middle part of the tune. Her Pathos was originally dubbed as That One Song by Steve. In rehearsals, Steve often says, Hey, let's play that one song . We get a kick out of that. It was composed to paint an emotional music mosaic against a series of pictures and videos on the Tales of Katrina: A Freight Train Screamin' DVD. We tried to keep an underlying sense of tension while weaving in an ebb and flow kind of emotive feel. Nathan started by playing the Hang, a steel drum type gadget tuned to D-Dorian. We asked him to play for about ten minutes. Nathan, Steve and Cary then layered drums, bass and keyboards over the Hang track. Nathan added a Didgeridoo. Electric and acoustic guitars and more keys were then layered into the mix. Nathan added Congas and Bill added a rain stick at the end of the tune. This song was done entirely in the studio almost as an afterthought. It kind of wrote itself during the recording...We just rode with the flow.
