Three musicians in a room

"Brötzmann goes garage, sort of, similar to that sound of his album Daredevil Shoji Hano, but not quite... You have on this recording tenor and clarinet - electric bass - drums -. If you just want to hear three guys go at their instruments like madmen that, although indeed crazy, have enough intellectual restraint as to lure in the attentive listener to a world of somehow rockish improvisation that exhausts in its own inexhaustibility the possibilities of three musicians jamming... It is hard to tell what is going on, but in a way that becomes a structure in and of itself.... The lineup works beautifully, becoming a perfect environment for one to understand and appreciate Brötzmann's modus operandi, at least a part of it... It is definitely high energy -as can be the case for Peter- in that beautiful tradition of music that can scare off the `jazz' lover by means of violent sensorial rape and overload... but saying that would just be a vulgar and obvious observation, there is indeed some nuance at work, giving depth to each breath, each pounding and fingering that occurs... Three guys in a room, soaring in their confined space, one of the better Brötzmann recordings in how self-evident the talent that he has becomes to the listener, almost immediately..."
