Norfolk & Western have come into their own, and this is the landmark album that their recent EP hinted at: eclectic and ambitious, enthralling and intimate. Having built support for their unique brand of indie rock on tour with Sparklehorse, M. Ward, The Decemberists, and Devotchka, the launch of The Unsung Colony will find the band finally headlining their own tours. Adam Selzer and Rachel Blumberg are joined by bassist Dave Depper, multi-instrumentalists Peter Broderick and Cory Gray (Desert City Soundtrack), and violinist Amanda Lawrence to deliver their strongest performances to date. The Unsung Colony was recorded in the storied halls of Selzer's Type Foundry studio, with a field trip to a Portland high school for symphonic embellishments.
