"Unfortunately, Norma Winstone is a well-kept secret. Her voice is warm and soothing, her phrasing is artful, and her choice of material is exquisite. Her words to Jimmy Rowles' "The Peacocks", retitled "A Timeless Place", are now a standard, recorded by only the best vocalists, such as Mark Murphy, Tierney Sutton, Jeri Brown, and the Swingle Singers. Ms. Winstone usually presents non-standard repertoire, but this CD is mostly standards. I hope she records more collections of standards in the future. Jimmy Rowles was perhaps the finest accompanist of female singers.
Search high and low to find this CD. It is worth it."
Don't miss The Peacocks

"Here again we find Norma singing standards we know and love. Music here by Ellington, Kern, Rogers and Hart... BUT do not miss "The Peacocks!" " A Timeless Place" is Norma's version of "The Peacocks." A piece written by her pianist on this date, the distinguished Jimmy Rowles. A piece I first heard years ago when I first discovered the Bill Evans recording "You Must Believe in Spring." Bill Evans is smiling somewhere. And I think Billy Strayhorn would be happy with the performance here of "A Flower is a Lovesome Thing." Nice work if you can get it."
