CD ReviewsHitting All the Right Notes Kevin Miller | Los Angeles, CA USA | 06/03/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Wow! I never imagined I'd hear some of my pop favorites reinterpreted for strings with all the power and passion of the original artist renditions.
The key seems to be Mark Governor's thoughtful, compelling string arrangements coupled with the rich, evocative vocal performances of Kathy Fisher. The end result is part music, part performance art. I'm a fan of Kathy Fisher from her work with the band FISHER. I've also followed Mark Governor's career as a songwriter, playwright and film composer. This CD seems to be the perfect pairing of their talents. For them, these songs are stories about people facing life's challenges. Every cut combines rock, pop, musical theater and chamber music into a hybrid I've never heard before. This is a heartfelt journey into the souls of some of the most genuinely emotional pop composer of the last 40 years." |
