"Two excellent tropicalia-inspired early 1970s Brazilian rock albums that have recently been repackaged on a single CD... "Novos Baianos FC" from 1973 and "Novos Baianos" from 1974, featuring guitarists Moraes Moreira and Pepeu Gomes, as well as singer Baby Consuelo (who was later known as Baby do Brasil). As with their earlier albums, this is a fairly breathtaking mix of styles... psychedelic rock and Amazonian folk, along with blues, and jazz fusion. Your eyebrows might start to raise a bit when they start getting all math-y and proggy, but even then they pull through with inspired grace. Tasty stuff."
