Nuclear Forehead returns with "Next Flight," the long-awaited followup to their debut release, "What It Is!!" "Next Flight," recorded in fits and starts over a period of several years, finds the band sounding better than ever -- not only was more time spent in the recording process, but remastering has given the songs a crisp, clean feel not found on the debut. This compliments the new batch of catchy songs well -- fans should find a lot to cheer about on "Next Flight." Lead songwriter and instrumentalist Dave Gershman writes and performs the majority of the songs here, but four were cowritten by Dave and original bandmate Mick Ruzich, who takes lead vocals on "Cold Shoulder" and "Cry in the Snow," two of the CD's standout tracks. Every track crackles with energy -- old fans and new listeners alike should take quickly to the the lovesick power pop of "When You Look My Way"; the acid-tongued and slightly psychedelic "Bitter" (with lyrics by Dorinna Suglia) and its rocking twin image, "Too Bad (Bitter Return)"; the spry introspection of "Telling on Myself"; and the wry acoustic stomp, "They Left at Last."
