"This is a compilation of three reconstructed oboe concertos and two symphonia. Anthony Robson does well with the difficult work, especially the reconstruction of the concerto in d. His realization of the two symphonia, which are staples of the "twin sad cantatas", BWV 12, and BWV 21 are wonderful.A bonus adagio track for the E major concerto, added because Robson and his colleagues thought it so special, is an endearing touch."

"This issue contains some rarities not found anywhere else (on period instruments). Virgin has too many repackages of this and other Bach violin and oboe concerto materials, so that it is necessary to buy numerous albums to include all of them. This one has the oboe d'amore concerto and S1059 concerto, available on none of their reissues. Other than the disorganised bundling, performances and sound are excellent."
