"I have been a faithful Ofra Haza fan from the very beginning, as far back as 1983. This CD, apparently her last full studio album, is an amazing showcase for her soaring voice and had me feeling rather emotional well before the last track. What's so wonderful is that this album can satisfy those that like basic pop music, and still has a lot of texture to the music, vocals, and style. By integrating Hebrew, English, and even French (as in the track Give Me A Sign), Ofra keeps the music alive and varied. It's accessible to all yet very international and satisfying to those who always loved her music. For me, the first track Show Me is the most impressive, it literally gave me chills with it's booming background. I'm happy that the traditional flavor of her roots was kept with beautiful string arrangements. At the other end of the CD the track One Day rounds things off with one of the most haunting and beautiful songs you will ever hear. The pacing is well done, as the tracks range from sweet (One Day, and You) to pop (Give Me A Sign, and the cover of You've Got A Friend), to a little "noisy" and even fun (Im Nin' Alu 2000, and Ahava). There are tracks that just stand alone like My Ethopian Boy, it's a CD you can have fun by letting the "shuffle" mode on your player create a unique atmosphere. These are actually very grand songs that are never too much or plain.Ofra's passing was indeed a sad day for the world, as her voice and talent were cherished by her fans and her death was just too soon. I have a special place in my heart for her (she was regularly requested on my radio show in St. Louis), and I make sure that friends find out about her music to this day. This 1997 album is a treasure, and a little-known gem even to those that have thought they bought all her CDs (since it is an import it's not as well-publicized). Do yourself a favor and give this one a try, it will affect you more than you will ever realize!"
