"Its been a few years and this is the first review. I might as well be talking to myself. However, in case a weary Wilco fan decides to stumble upon this...



On Fillmore is a collaboration between percussionist Glenn Kotche and (acoustic) bassist Darin Gray. If you've heard Glenn's solo albums, this is a very similar record. There is a mix of strange percussion and absolutely infectious drum'n'bass grooves (not computer generated, mind you). Cricket Conquers Cave and Accidental Chase will keep your head nodding for awhile (if you can figure out the rather strange rhythm of the latter).



Each song is really a catchy melody repeated a lot with various variations. Its kind of like acoustic trance music. It's a really fun record, and every song is listenable (with the exception of the first track and the first bit of Captive Audience, which are both random percussion scraping and clanging very similar to Glenn's entire 2nd album, "Next"). The rest is a clever mix of vibraphone, drums, inGlenntions, and bass. Its a really solid album. Give it a try if you have a curious ear."
