CD ReviewsGreat Up and Coming Band Siklootd | Santa Fe, NM | 04/23/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "Being a huge metal fan, and having respect and love for every genre of metal that exists, I'm always looking to expand my collection. What better way to expand any metal collection than to begin searching for relatively unknown bands to listen to? Nothing. That's how I came across the band One Way Mirror. A random encounter with the band's style while listening to satellite radio music developed into a love for the band's unique take on modern metal.
One Way Mirror is a very unique band, blending Nu Metal, Alternative Metal, and Industrial Metal elements, into a nice blend that feels perfect and sounds incredible. One Way Mirror formed as a "superband" featuring members of groups such as Soilwork, Scarve, and Phaze 1. The band's debut self titled album is a perfect one to use to enter the music scene and help establish their name in the modern day metal world. The album starts off with the song "Destination Device". This song is a great way to get a pretty good feel of how the remainder of the album will sound. With traditional Industrial Metal sounding vocals during the introduction, the song then turns into a more Alternative sounding track, while still maintaining Industrial Metal sounding vocals and Nu-Metalesque screams to accompany the singing that the track contains. The second track "As You Are Now" reminds me of other great Alternative Metal bands that currently exist, such as Makeshift Romeo and Anew Revolution. The song is a nice, uplifting track, featuring great cleanly sung vocals, and features a nice synth introduction interlude reminiscent of Industrial Metal bands such as Deathstars, Mushroomhead, Static X, and even Marilyn Manson. The alternating sounds that range from Industrial to Alternative, balance quite nicely in this track, showing great strengths that One Way Mirror possess in both musical sub genres. The album continues with this trend of blending the three genres of Nu Metal, Alternative Metal, and Industrial Metal and the end result is one great album worth listening to over and over again. One Way Mirror is definitely a band worth checking out if you're a fan of any of these three genres, you surely will not be disappointed a bit." |
